It was constructed by Vizier of Seljuk’s Sahip Ata Fahreddin around 1267 therefore principal name of the madrasa is Sahip Ata Madrasa but however widely known as Sahabiye Madrasa.

The present study initially concerns investigation on primal masonry materials of the building by terms of analytic methods and proposals for the conservation of the masonry works.

The basic principle in the protection of immovable properties is; to develop methods using the data in order to transfer the property to the next generations as it, to stop any possible disfiguration of the property and its elements and to take precautions so as to maintain sustainability by doing research on the factors contributing to the disfiguration of the property and its elements. It has been observed that mortar consolidation regarding the Sahabiye Medrese has been done several times so far but there are no precautions taken against regarding the stone repairment of the most significant elements belonging to the property. The conservation studies concerning the historical artefacts should be evaluated as a whole and the protection act should be proposed by taking the whole property into consideration. There have been three types of mortar detected during the repairment process within Sahabiye Medrese but the original mortar has not been identified. In accordance with this data, the convenience could be investigated by comparing the mortar technique used at similar and modern properties.

}, number={2}, publisher={Istanbul University}
