N2  - Öz: Yer adlarının, bir yerin coğrafi, tarihi ve genel karakterini tanıma ve tanıtmadarolü büyüktür. Yer adları üzerinde tarih, coğrafya, sosyal gruplar ve kültürün etkisiönemli rol oynamaktadır. Gerek yerleşmenin tarihi gelişimi, gerekse coğrafi çevrenin eskidurumu hakkında bilgi edinilebilen bir kaynak olması nedeniyle, yerleşme isimleri üzerindedurulması faydalıdır.Yer adları ile ilgli çalışmalar bir yerleşmenin tarihi, sosyo-kültürel ve sosyo-ekonomikyapısı ve coğrafyasını ortaya koyması bakımından önem taşımaktadır. Araştırma sahasınıoluşturan Salihli’de birçok köy, adını Türk oymak, aşiret ve cemaat gibi aile ve soy özelliklerindenalmıştır. Bu gibi isimler Salihli’de özellikle geçmişteki nüfus hareketlerinin veSalihli’nin yakın iskan tarihinin aydınlatılması bakımından önem taşımaktadır.Fiziki ve beşeri (kültürel) coğrafya faktörlerinden etkilenerek köylere isim vermekinsan ve mekan arasındaki karşılıklı etkileşimi göstermesi bakımından önemlidir. Bu durumunsonucunda yerleşmenin beşeri ve iktisadi coğrafya özellikleri ortaya çıkmaktadır.Anahtar Kelimler: Salihli, yer adları, coğrafyaThe Influence of Geography on the Names of Villages in Salihli DistrictAbstract: The place names have major roles in identifying and promoting thegeographical, historical and general character of a place. History, geography, socialgroups and culture play an important role on the place names. It is useful to focus on villageand town names because they are important sources in terms of providing informationabout historical development of the settlements and geographical environment in oldtimes.Studies about place names are significant in terms of demonstrating historical, socioculturaland socio-economic structure and geography of a settlement. In the study area(Salihli District), many villages are named after families and their origins such as Turkishtribes, communities and clans. Such names are very important to determine the populationmovements in Salihli and lighting the recent history of settlement policies in the district.Naming villages by the influence of physical and geographic characteristics of theplace shows the interaction between people and these places. Human and economicgeography is emerging as a result of the settlement of this situation.Keywords: Salihli, settlement names, geography
