N2  - It is the aim of this study is to test the validity and reliability of the Turkish versionof Multidimensional Sportspersonship Orientation Scale-MSOS developed byVallerand et al (1997). Translation-Back-Translation technique was employedduring the process of Turkish translation of MSOS. In order to test the understandability of cultural differences and of the items, the scale wasadministered to randomly selected 300 students from The School of PhysicalEducation and Sports, Gazi University. In light of the results emanating from thestatistical analysis, the unapparent items were revised and the scale wasadministered to the same group once again. Following this process, a reliabilityand validity study was carried out with randomly selected 110 soccer players fromvarious soccer clubs in Ankara. MSOS is a 5-likert scale of 25 items composed of 5subdimensions. The original MSOS contains 5 subdimensions: “respect for socialconvention”, “respect for rules and officials”, “respect for one’s full commitment” ,“respect for opponents” and “negative approach towards sportspersonship”. Onthe basis of the first factor analysis related to 25 items (5 subdimensions) ofMultidimensional Sportspersonship Orientation Scale-MSOS, it was recognized that5 items of negative approach towards sportspersonhip (items 5, 10, 15, 20, 25) didnot work. This subdimension was not included in the second factor analysis. TheTurkish version of Multidimensional Sportspersonship Orientation Scale-MSOS hadfour factors and 20 items. Cronbach Alpha values are respectively 0,86 for Factor 1(respect for social convention), 0,83 for Factor 2 (respect for rules and officials),0,91 for Factor 3 (respect for one’s full commitment) and 0,82 for Factor 4 (respectfor opponents). The values are highly reliable. It can be concluded that The Turkish version of Multidimensional Sportspersonship Orientation Scale-MSOS has areliable and valid structure.
