@article{article_304879, title={THE ANALYSIS OF THE HEART STRUCTURE AND HEART FUNCTIONS OF THE WRESTLER WHO WERE AT THE TURKISH NATIONAL TEAM LEVEL BY ELECTROCARDIOGRAPH METHOD}, journal={Gazi Journal of Physical Education and Sport Sciences}, volume={8}, pages={3–14}, year={2003}, author={Hazar, Serkan and Koç, Haluk}, keywords={Wrestling,EKG,Heart,Exercise}, abstract={
The aim of the study was to analyze the cardio functional and anatomic parameters of wrestlers who were in the national team level to obtain specific information; by identifying the effect and quantity of wrestling on heart structure and on heart functions, by comparing their estimations with the sedentars who are in the same age group. The sample consisted of 20 wrestlers who have been and who are still in the national team, had national and international successes and who are still wrestling in several clubs, and have not got any illnesses, as the experimental group. And the control group was composed from 20 sedentars who were in the same age group and have not got any illnesses. The resting electrocardiographs and blood pressures of the groups were taken.

The measurements of wrestlers were compared with the related literature and with the control group. The study pointed out that there was a significant decrease in the wrestlers heart rate and systolic pressure according to the control group. Bradicardi was general finding in wrestlers. There were some current abnormalities seen in the first degree block. A growth was found in the wrestlers atriums when compared with the control group.

Although the growth was under hypertrophy level, the difference between the groups was statistically significant. While a hypertrophy in the left ventricule was estimated in the wrestlers, the right ventricule values were estimated under the values of control group. Not having seen any significant difference between the experimental group and control group, according to their resting/working percentage, study identifies that bradicardi was caused by the lengthening of both resting and working time, not only by the lengthening of resting time.

}, number={1}, publisher={Gazi University}
