N2  - There has been a growing interest in use and acquisition of Turkish in abilingual setting, as attested through the papers that have been presented both atinternational conferences and in the literatüre on Turkish linguistics (see, the rathersketchy bibliography in the References). The topic has acclaimed such interest for avariety of reasons, ali of which are of immediate concem to the linguistic circle andits related fıelds of the social and humanistic sciences. This brief survey will try topresent the contemporary trends in these areas through an examination of the papersand abstracts that have been presented at International Conferences on TurkishLinguistics over the years 1986 and 1994.
