TY - JOUR TT - THE ASSESMENT OF RELATION BETWEEN WAIST/HEIGHT RATIO AND TYPE 2 DIABETES RISK AMONG NURSING STUDENTS AU - Gezer, Ceren PY - 2017 DA - October DO - 10.3153/JFHS17017 JF - Food and Health JO - Food Health PB - Özkan ÖZDEN WT - DergiPark SN - 2602-2834 SP - 141 EP - 149 VL - 3 IS - 4 KW - Diabetes mellitus KW - Obezite KW - Abdominal KW - Öğrenciler KW - Hemşirelik N2 - In this study it’s aimed to evaluate type 2 diabetesrisk and the relation between type 2 diabetes and waist/height ratio in nursingstudents. Body weight, height, waist and hip circumferences were performed by following the appropriate techniques and Finnish type 2 diabetes risk score questionnarie wasapplied. The ratio of students whose ten years risk oftype 2 diabetes risk were %1, %4, %16 and %33 assesed as %67.1, %28.5, %2.2 and%2.2, respectively. While type 2 diabetes risk correlated with bothwaist/height ratio and body mass index at medium level, waist/height ratio hadthe highest correlation coefficient with type 2 diabetes. The assesment of type 2 diabetes risk of youth with non-inasivetechniques couldbe effective for decreasing the risk. CR - Alberti, K.M., Zimmet, P. & Shaw, J. (2007).
