Torsion / ischemia and detorsion /reperfusion times were determined as 4 hours. Medications were givenintraperitoneally at 3 hours following onset of testicular torsion. Detorsionedright testises were removed 8 hours after the begining of the procedure in all4 groups. Results: In our study, we found that administration of iloprost andmetotrexate significantly increased total antioxidant capacity (TAC) whilereducing total oxidant statüs (TOS) and oxidative stress index (OSI) levelssignificantly. No statistically significant difference was found for testiclesin I/R groups according to the Johnsen scoring system. Conclusion: Admnistration of iloprost and low dose methotrexate treatmentincreased antioxidant activity in testicular samples while suppressing oxidantactivity. However, there was no change in histopathological examination andspermatogenesis scores. CR - 1. Sheweita SA, Tilmisany AM, Al-Sawaf H. Mechanisms of male infertility: role of antioxidants.
