When a surface layer and a diffraction grating layer consisting of silicon rods are added to the input surface of photonic crystals, it has been observed that, the surface mode coupling efficiency of electromagnetic waves increases. It has been obtained that when radius variation and point defects are formed in the silicon rods surrounding the waveguide at the exit surface of the photonic crystal waveguide, electromagnetic waves can be focused or scattered at equal powers. For the first time by this study a decrease in the insensity of unwanted side lobes has been detected when radial change is gradually established. In addition, studies regarding a refractive index sensor have been carried out by creating a change in the refraction index at the rods located in a certain periodicity at the exit surface of the photonic crystal waveguide.

}, number={6}, publisher={Sakarya University}
