TY - JOUR TT - RELATIONSHIP AMONG EFFICACY, STRATEGY USE AND PROFICIENCY: CASE OF LISTENING IN AN EFL CLASSROOM AU - Sönmez, Görsev AU - Durmaz, Büşranur PY - 2017 DA - September JF - Turkish Online Journal of English Language Teaching JO - TOJELT PB - Ahmet Selçuk AKDEMİR WT - DergiPark SN - 2458-9918 SP - 133 EP - 150 VL - 2 IS - 3 KW - Listening proficiency KW - efficacy beliefs KW - strategy use N2 - Among four skills in foreign languagelearning, listening has been the least researched one, mostly because there arevarious cognitive and affective factors to consider. This study only focused onstrategy use (cognitive) and efficacy beliefs (affective) of the students toinvestigate the relationship between listening proficiency, efficacy andstrategy use of EFL learners. In accordance with quantitative research method, listening efficacy and listening strategy use questionnaires together with alistening comprehension test were used at the outset of a 14-week listeningcourse, which is one of the mainstream courses in the ELT department. Theresults underline a positive correlation among the three variables. CR - Bernhardt, S. (1997). Self-efficacy and second language learning.
