In the static analysis of steel structures, column-beam joint points are considered as pinned or completely rigid connections. But in reality, behavior at connections are neither a hinge nor a rigid one. The actual behavior of junctions is between these two behaviors, and this behavior is called semi-rigid joint behavior. Design of frames are determined by taking into account the AISC-LRFD specifications. For optimum design of steel frames (rigid and semi-rigid); the best results obtained by using algorithms developed in the particle swarm and hunting search technique, were compared. Particle swarm optimization method, is a search technique that imitates the behavior of animal swarms, just as birds etc., looking for food. The hunting technique is a search technique that has been developed as a result of monitoring the strategies developed by hunter animals such as lions and wolves to catch their prey and imitating these behaviors. It was tried to reach the design which has the minimum wieght of the frames with the optimizations techniques used.

}, number={3}, publisher={Manisa Celal Bayar University}
