A possible error in the order of (±15%) was considered acceptable when developing the formula. The percentages of reinforcement or cross-sectional dimensions can be directly calculated from this formula, if the material properties, loads and the dimensionless eccentricity factors are known. The results obtained from the formula, which is applicable when the dimensionless axial load level is higher than 0.50, were compared to the exact solutions of numerous columns.
