He died in Babylon (now Iraq) on June 13 323 BC. Alexander the Great, who conquered almost the entire known world his era. He established a great empire whose boundaries extended to India from Macedonia. However the death of Alexander the Great was suddenness. Indeed the king’s had no an obvious legitimate heir as well. In such a setting, Diadochs, families and friends of Alexander the Great who fought for control over his empire after his death in 323 BC. The Wars of the Diadochs sign the starting of the Hellenistic Period.
