As in the past Anatolian cities have been affected by this phenomenon in our recent history. Especially in the late Ottoman period, banditry movements showed a large increase. One of the places at which the banditry movement occured in Anatolia is Sinop. In the Ottoman period, the banditries were seen in three categories: “Levent Banditries”, “Tribal Banditries”, “Private and group Banditries”.It is seen that the appearance of the banditries were increased by the moral and economic deterioration and the collapse of the govermental authority. This inclination is not only in the Otoman Empire but also the other counties in the world. All these negative effects are the cause of the creation of the banditry. In the begining of 20th century, due to the war conditions the collapse of the governmental authority and economic deterioration caused banditry. With the help of verbal narrations, the story written in Sinop,in contrast to the overall plot, is remarkable in terms of the type of the bandits who help the poor . In this study, “banditry” concept in mind,a bandit story that happened in Sinop will be analyzed in all its aspects.
