Material and Methods:The sample of this descriptivestudy 368 pregnant attending outpatient clinic of the obstetrics department of a hospital between 24 June and 30November 2013 and accepting to participate in study were included. Questionnaire myths related to pregnancy and childbirth and participantinformation form prepared by theresearchers, and was used to collectdata and conducted face-to-face. Datawere analyzed with arithmetic average, standarddeviation, percentage distributions. Statistical significance was p <0.05was accepted. Results:The average age of the pregnant women inthe our study was 27.02±6.16 years. Pregnant women' myths the most prominentrelated to pregnancy were myths about sexuality and nausea-vomiting inpregnancy. As to the myths abouth the birth, associated with birth pain and mythsfor nutrition were higher rate. Conclusion:Nowadays that maternal-friendly hospital concept isremain on the agenda, myths related topregnancy and childbirth of pregnant women is more. In this sense toeliminate wrong or negative myths about pregnancy and birth, pregnant womenshould be informed or in pregnancyinformation classes or participation in pregnancy training classes should beencouraged. KW - Myth KW - pregnancy KW - birth KW - sexuality N2 - Amaç: Gebelerin gebelik dönemine ve doğuma ilişkin mitlerininbelirlenmesidir.Yöntem: Tanımlayıcıtipteki araştırmanın örneklemini 24 Haziran – 30 Kasım 2013 tarihleri arasında birhastanenin kadın doğum polikliniğe başvuran ve araştırmaya katılmayı kabul eden368 gebe oluşturdu. Veriler katılımcı bilgi formu ve literatür doğrultusundahazırlanan gebelik ve doğuma ilişkin mit ifadelerinden oluşan formun gebelere yüz yüze görüşme yöntemiyle toplandı.Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde ortalama,standart sapma, yüzde kullanıldı. İstatistiksel anlamlılık p<0.05olarak kabul edildi. Bulgular:Çalışmamızda gebelerin yaş ortalaması 27.02±6.16 yıl olarak belirlendi. Gebeleringebelik dönemine ilişkin en fazla dikkati çeken gebelikte cinsellikle ilgili vebulantı-kusmaya ilişkin mitler olurken doğuma ilişkin en fazla doğum ağrısıylabağlantılı ve beslenmeye ilişkin mitler daha yüksek orandaydı. Sonuç: Anne dostu kavramının gündemde olduğu günümüzde gebeleringebelik dönemine ve doğuma ilişkin mitleri yaygındı. Bu anlamda gebelikve doğum sürecine ilişkin mitlerin ortadan kaldırılması için gebelerinbilgilendirilmesi ya da gebe bilgilendirme sınıflarına, gebe eğitim sınıflarınakatılmaları teşvik edilmelidir.
