N2  - Lessonsof Huzur-ı Humaayuun, whichwas practiced in the last two centuries during the Ottoman period, is one ofthe most important scholars of the time and a council meeting the sultan.Outspoken scholars occasionally advised the sultans in these councils. One ofthese scholars was Reisü'l-Ulema Tikveşli Yusuf Ziyaeddin Efendi. TikveşliYusuf Ziyaeddin Efendi gave some advice to Sultan Abdulhamid about educationand administration at a lesson. The text in which he writes his recommendations,draws attention to a very different area than the values of the secularizedOttoman intellectual. He offers recommendations about the place of religion inthe state, dominance of religious rulesin social life and the proportion of religious lessons in education, which area very controversial issues from the beginning of the twentieth century.
