The air-conditioning system is based on theconventional mechanical compression refrigeration cycle. An internal heatexchanger (IHX) has been added to the system in order to provide performanceenhancement. The influence of the IHX investigated at different compressorspeeds and air stream temperatures. Experimental measurements were collected byusing a data-acquisition system, and the results were obtained by performingexergetic analysis. The exergy destruction, exergy efficiency and the totalexergy destruction per cooling capacity were calculated. The analysis resultswere compared with a baseline system which operates with the refrigerant R134a.Furthermore, an empirical correlation was proposed for the determination of thetotal exergy destruction per cooling capacity for various compressor speeds forevaluating the system performance without doing further experiments. As aresult, the exergetic efficiency of the system was improved by introducing IHXto the system. Moreover, it was observed that the temperature rise in the air streamdecreased the exergy efficiency and increased the total exergy destruction percooling capacity.
