N2 - Eastern Turkestan became a part of the China bothpolitically and geographically when Chinese Communist Party (CCP) culminatedthe power struggle with Guomindang (Nationalistic Party) successfullyin 1949. However, it took decades getting the Uyghurs under thecomplete socio-cultural influence of China due to the insistent and deliberateethnic pressure policies of the CCP and it was after the 2000s. Especiallythe governmental pressures on language, education and culture of theUyghurs was started with the foundation of Xinjiang Uyghur autonomousregion in 1955 and been increasingly growing nowadays. These fifty yearslong sociocultural assimilation policies of CCP can be defined under thecategory of “compulsory socio-cultural change” from the perspective of thescience of sociology. The reality of forceful change will trigger the irreversiblecultural erosion in Uyghur Turk Society. This article, based on theresearch methodology of participant observation and qualitative data obtainedfrom the interviews, investigated the intellectuals in Uyghur TurkSociety between the years of 2003-2013. To understand the cultural disorientationphenomenon better, more detailed study has been especially madeon the sample of Chinese spoken Uyghurs.  CR - BARNETT, A.
