N2  - Salah al-din al-Eyyubi, Conqueror of Jerusalem, appears as a symbol of culture of leniency and coexistence among Islamic countries as well as among different religions and civilizations. In fact, it is not customary approach that a member who is belong to Islamic civilization to be perceived as positively among different religions and civilizations. It is no doubt there are great influence of real and objective historical source in the formation of the positive perceptions. , Salah al-din al-Eyyubi appears as a forgiving, ruled with justice, generous and benevolent ruler in main sources which tell the history of Medieval Europe and Islam. Although he defeated numerous times crusader army, , Salah al-din al-Eyyubi never act with vengeance in the countries which he conquered. He ruled conquered countries with justice and compassion. Conqueror of Jerusalem has won the hearts of the people who belong different religions and cultures with humility and leniency. He has beensymbol of morals, conscience and mercy in the shadowy world of medieval era. In this article, Saladin Ayyub‟s superior virtues will be discussed with the aspects that reflected on Western historical novel. Also, in this study aspects of the historical novel that reflects the real life and which associates the literature and history will be emphasised and The contribution that such novels can provide to history education will be emphasized. This study in general terms aims the contribution that literary science can provide to social sciences and history teaching programs; In particular aims the promotion of the novels of Western literature which can be offered to the students on the Crusade and Salah al-din al-Eyyubi in the curriculum of the ninth grade history lesson of secondary education
