Arches can only carry compressional loads and they transfer these loads to right and left sides. This phenomenon is known as arching effect. Arch material and geometry determine the ability of arch’es load transfer, in other words its load carrying capacity. In this study, three circular arches were constructed with smooth interface – mortar, smooth interface without mortar, interlocking interface with mortar block contact properties. These arches were loaded uniformly until failure is occured. Each arch’es load-deformation and total energy consumed-deformation graphs were drawn. According to test results although the arch constructed by using interlocking interface with mortar has the highest load carrying capacity, it was determined that the arch constructed using smooth interface with mortar has the highest performance because of its superior deformation energy consuming capacity with respect to other arches UR - https://dergipark.org.tr/en/pub/politeknik/issue//367021 L1 - https://dergipark.org.tr/en/download/article-file/384450 ER -
