Ancak yaşam şeklimizdeki değişiklikler veözellikle de vücudumuza aldığımız yeni moleküler bileşikler bumikroorganizmalar üzerinde çeşitli etkilere neden olmaktadır. Yapılan sonçalışmalar bize bu mikroorganizma topluluklarının insan sağlığı üzerinde tahminedilenden daha fazla etkiye sahip olduğunu göstermektedir. Bu yapının ve kendiaralarındaki etkileşimin aydınlatılması, mikrobiyomun insan sağlığına olanetkisinin görülmesinde ve hatta hastalıkların tedavilerinin belirlenmesindeönemli katkılar sağlayacağı açıktır.
