In this period, children are willing spend money and select foods for consumption themselves at school. One of the responses of globalizing world on children lifestyle is increase of fast-food areas. Fast-foods and beverages contain many health risks such as high calorie, high fat and salt ratio. Spending of pocket-money for these type of unhealthy foods is common among the children. In this study, superiorities of traditional foods including yogurt and pekmez as well as minimally processed/unprocessed foods against modern consumption model and importance of these type of foods on nutrition of school-age children were discussed. In conclusion, it was understood that inclusion of traditional foods in school canteens and student cafeterias as well as in children diets provide healthier nutrition habits to students and they should be encouraged consume traditional foods. </span> </div>}, number={3}, publisher={Sivas Cumhuriyet University}
