N2  - Offset agreements are widespread in sales of defenseproducts. There is a steady tendency to increase their share as a percentage ofworld trade. Developed countries with well-established Defence Technologicaland Industrial Bases, use offset transactions to target activities to businessorganizations and countries with emerging economies use offset to gain militaryand commercial benefits. The following paperexamines the offset as an economic operation which represents a wide range ofindustrial and trade practices.
