N2 - This paper presents a methodology on modeling, namely, artificial neural network (ANN), of the meteorological drought.For this purpose, standardized precipitation index (SPI) values at time scales of 3, 6, 9 and 12 months were calculated using monthly rainfalls measured from 1975 to 2009 in Karaman meteorology station. The feed-forward back-propagation (FFBP) method was employed to train the ANNs in the study. The SPI and monthly rainfall data was taken into consideration to constitute input layer in Feed Forward Back Propagation Artificial Nerual Netwoks (FFBPANN). The SPI values from the ANN were compaired with the values calculated from SPI relationship for the period 1999-2009.
