Forensic evaluation. Psychiatric diagnosis}, abstract={This study investigates the forensic cases which are directed to our polyclinic by the judicial authorities in order to regulate the reports. The file information of the 142 cases between the ages of 3 and 18, which had been directed to the department of child psychiatry between the dates of May 2010 and November 2011, were investigated retrospectively. The psychiatric diagnoses which were determined in the children who were sexually abused are post-traumatic stress disorder (%40,8), anxiety disorders (%13,6) and depressive disorders (%10,4). The level of intelligence is determined as normal in %23,9 of the cases and border level in %20,5 of the cases. Slight mental retardation in %31,7 of the cases is determined. The evaluation which is most frequently demanded by the court is determined as the mental state assessment after sexual abuse. In our study the post-traumatic stress disorder is determined the most and this is compatible with the literature. Sexual abuse is an important public health problem, which distorts affective and behavioral development of the child, is a risk factor for several psychiatric disorder in the future and affects not only children’s health also his/her environment negatively.}, number={1}, publisher={Bursa Uludağ University}
