N2  - (33rd Annual Congress of European Accounting Association (EAA) took place in İstanbul on May 19-21, 2010)  33rd Annual Congress of European Accounting Association (EAA) took place in İstanbul on May 19-21, 2010. As an international activity a European congress was taken place in İstanbul, where was chosen as the European Capital of Culture in 2010. Approximately 1.400 participants attended the Congress and 790 proceedings were discussed. These proceedings were presented by the delegates from 44 countries. Highest number of proceedings was from Germany with 96 proceedings. Germany was followed by England with 89 proceedings and United States of America with 87 proceedings. Delegates from Spain were presented 72 proceedings. Classification of the proceedings according to subjects indicates that 179 proceedings were in financial accounting and 148 proceedings were in managerial accounting. Even though that currently the auditing is an important accounting subject, the number of proceedings in auditing was only 87. This was the first time that an EAA congress held in a Balkan and Middle East country.
