The reason of the difference could be cyclical movements of the economy or development of countries. In this study a VAR (Vector Autoregression) Model is generated and Granger Casuality Test is used to determine the direction of the relation between energy consumption and macroeconomic variables in Turkey. According to the results of the study electiricity consumption granger causes manufacturing sector growth rate at 5 % significance level and gross domestic product and capacity utilization rate at 10 % significance level. There exist a bidirectional casuality between electricity consumption per capita and growth rate of manufacturing sector at 90 % confidence level.
