N2  - Objective: To compare the technique, morbidity and short term  complications of diaphragmatic surgery for ovarian cancer.  Materials and methods: The records of the patients with ovarian  cancer who underwent diaphragmatic surgery (diaphragmatic stripping  or resection) between July 2006 and July 2009 at Gazi University  Hospital were examined.  Results: Fourteen patients having diaphragmatic resection  and/or stripping were included to this study. Two patients underwent  only resection (%14). It was at primary surgery for ten patients;  secondary cytoreduction for three, and tertiary cytoreduction for one.  Extensive upper abdominal surgery was needed for six patients (%42).  Chest tube was placed for three patients (%21). In one patient (%7)  postoperative chest tube was placed because of pneumothorax.  Conclusion: Diaphragmatic surgery in ovarian cancer is important  for the cytoreductive surgery. Although it has some possible  complications, it is reasonable at experienced centers.
