N2  - This paper tries to describe the origin of “right” and “left”, some of the approaches to them in the Muslim world especially in Turkey as well as the approaches of the Torah, the Gospel and the Quran to these concepts. It attempts to discover whether there is a relationship between them and Quranic concepts such as Ashâb al maymana, Ashâb al yameen, Ashâb al mashama and Ashâb al shimaal which have been translated by few Muslim Turkish Quran translators as “rightists” and “leftists.”
