AB  - Bir ceza davasının başarılı bir şekildekovuşturulabilmesi için mağdur ve tanıkların ifadesi çok önemlidir (Holder,2013:1158). Son yirmi yıl değerlendirildiğinde çocukları içeren davalarınsayısının çarpıcı bir şekilde arttığı görülmektedir (Holder, 2013:1158).Çocuğun, duruşma salonu gibi aşina olmadığı bir ortamda bulunmasının getirdiğikaygı ve sanıktan korkması, çocuğun ifade verme yeteneğini azaltabilir vedavadaki tüm olguları duruşmaya dâhil etmesini engelleyebilir. Amerika’da pekçok eyalette çocukların mahkeme ortamlarındaki bu özel durumu kabul edilir veçocuklar için koruyucu ve destekleyici önlemler uygulanır. Güven vericiobjelerin ve destekleyici kişilerin çocuğun yanında bulunmasına izin verilmesigibi, hayvanlar özellikle köpekler de çocukların yer aldığı duruşmalardabulunabilmektedir. Ancak hayvanların mahkeme ortamında destekleyici olarakçocuklar için kullanımı henüz ülkemizde uygulanmamaktadır. Bu çalışma; PDRöğrencilerinin hayvanların mahkeme ortamında koruyucu ve destekleyici önlemolarak kullanılması hakkında görüşlerinin incelenmesini amaçlamaktadır. Buamaçla öğrencilere 3 kapalı, 1 açık uçlu sorunun olduğu anket yöneltilmiştir.Sonuç olarak öğrencilerin hayvanların mahkeme ortamında kullanılmasına olumlu(%92,1) baktıkları, hayvan olarak en çok kuşu (%28,9) tercih ettikleri, mahkemeortamında hayvanları görmüş olmanın (%44,7) rahatlatıcı bir etkisinin olacağıortaya çıkmıştır. Yanıt içerikleri değerlendirildiğinde hayvan tercihlerinde%78,9 oranla duygusal ihtiyaçların etkili olduğu bulunmuştur. Araştırmanınhayvanların koruyucu ve destekleyici önlem olarak mahkemelerde kullanılmasıuygulamasının ülkemizde yerleştirilmesi için temel bir bilgi sağlayacağınainanılmaktadır.

N2  - The testimony of the victims and witnesses is crucialfor the successful prosecution of a criminal case (Holder, 2013:1158). Over thelast two decades, the number of cases involving children has increaseddramatically (Holder, 2013:1158). The anxiety of the child being in anunfamiliar environment, the courtroom and the fear of the defendant candecrease the child's ability to testify and prevent all of the evidence beingshown in the trial. In many states of United States, this special situation ofthe children in the courts is accepted and protective and supportive measuresare implemented for them. Animals, especially dogs, can participate in thecourtroom beside children, just like supportive persons and comfortingmaterials accompanying them. However, the use of animals as supportiveprecautions in the court is not yet implemented in our country. This currentstudy aims to investigate the opinions of PDR students on using animals asprotective and supportive measures in the courtroom. For this purpose, studentswere asked 3 closed and 1 open ended questionnaires. As a result, it was foundthat students had a positive approach (92.1%) on the use of animals in thecourtroom, they preferred birds (28.9%) the most, and seeing (44.7%) animals incourt have a relaxing effect. When response contents were evaluated, emotionalneeds were found to be influenced by 78.9% in animal preferences. It is believedthat the survey will provide basic information in implementing using of animalsin courts in our country as a protective and supportive measure.
