N2  - This study was carried out in order to found out the perceptions of academicians (lecturer) during the selection of postgraduate students. The study was conducted with the 13 lecturers in 2002-2003 academic year at the Faculty of Educational Sciences. In this study, semi-structual interview technique was used as a data gathering technique. Lecturers who had been involved in the selection process were asked to participate as interviweer. As a result it was founded that there were many problems and negative implementations on selecting the canditates for gradute students and the views of the academical staff also supported that inferring
