In this In the present work, we particularlysought to determine the current situationof the coastal waters in Iskenderun Bay by characterizing the quantitativestatus and group composition of mesozooplankton. Mesozooplankton samplings wastaken vertically at 5 stations from surface to bottom between April 2012 andDecember 2017 at seasonal scale. A total of 32 zooplankton groups wereidentified, of which 15 were holoplankton and the rest were meroplankton.Although holoplanktonic groups are generally predominant, only Echinodermatawas dominant in summer of 2013 and 2015. In the study area, Copepoda wasgenerally seen as a dominant group in holoplankton, while Cladocera andEchinodermata were dominant in warmer periods. Doliolida was only observed asthe dominant group in the only autumn of 2015. Although variations in abundanceand biomass among years was statistically insignificant (p>0.05), seasonalchanges were statistically significant (p<0.01, p<0.05, respectively).Mesozooplankton biomass varied between 0.5-21.6 mg / m3 in thespring season, 2.2- 23.7 mg/m3 in the summer, 2-27.9 mg/m3 inthe autumn and 1.3-17.3 mg/m3 in winter. As a result, the mesozooplankton standing stocks in ofIskenderun Bay fluctuated at a small scale during the whole samplingperiod, however, group composition waspartly differed due to variations in meroplankton groups.
