N2  - Looking economicaly, development of world trade and increase in the living standards are desired events, but all of these makes harmful effects on environment. The rise in the environment protection efforts shows that societies have become conscious about these matters. But businesses have to undertake the most important part on this duty. Businesses trying to take place in the global competition should obey the environment protection laws, but beyond this they should see environment protection as a business policy and share the sensitivity of the society. The basic aim of this study is to examine, compare and interpret the environment protection policies in EU and Turkey; and think of the duties that businesses should handle.
