TY - JOUR T1 - Strategic Factors Affecting Green Building Industry: A Macro-Environmental Analysis Using PESTEL Framework AU - Ulubeyli, Serdar AU - Kazancı, Oğuzhan AU - Kazaz, Aynur AU - Arslan, Volkan PY - 2019 DA - December Y2 - 2019 DO - 10.16984/saufenbilder.474824 JF - Sakarya University Journal of Science JO - SAUJS PB - Sakarya University WT - DergiPark SN - 2147-835X SP - 1042 EP - 1055 VL - 23 IS - 6 LA - en AB - For the last decade, green buildings have created a new industry of ecologicalbuildings. However, this industry is still newly developing and finds limitedimplementation opportunities when compared to the traditional buildingindustry. Therefore, for a more preferable green building industry, strategicfactors that can have significant effects on the industry should becomprehended. Based on this argument, the present study aims (i) to identifythese factors, (ii) to determine their importance levels, and lastly (iii) tofind out their current levels of impact on the industry. To achieve this, aquestionnaire survey was conducted for the Turkish green building industrythrough 32 industrial practitioners who have an official LEED Credentials. Theresults obtained were evaluated via the relative importance index method. Consequently,a total of 30 strategic factors were identified. Out of them, 28 were found tobe significant while only 16 currently have a significant impact on theindustry.
