The emphasis given to thecompetencies in emotional intelligence suggests that these elements alsocontribute to human emotional change and influenced the formulations of humanbehavioral. In this study, the issues in the workplace are referring toemotional intelligence, self-esteem and commitment of employees. The specificpurpose of this study was to test the impact of emotional intelligence amongemployees whether it able or unable to influence a commitment to theorganization through employee self-esteem factor. A total of 196 civil servantsin the Local Authority (PBT) have been selected as respondents. Measurement toolsthat are used in the data lump is Emotional Intelligence Self-DescriptionInventory (EISDI), Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) and the EmployeeCommitment Survey Revised Version (ECS). The data was then analyzed usinghierarchical regression analysis. The findings show that emotional intelligenceand four dimensions of emotional intelligence have a direct impact onorganizational commitment. In fact, the emotional intelligence and dimensionsalso has an indirect effect on organizational commitment when self-esteem asmediator factor is controlled. Employee self-esteem later found to function asa partly mediator that affecting the relationship between overall emotionalintelligence and four dimensions of emotional intelligence with organizationalcommitment. The most important findings are found emotional intelligencedimension among employees are able to become more relevant with the increasingavailability of commitment of employee when there was the element ofself-esteem as a mediator factor.
