AB  - Türkiye üniversitelerinde açılan örgün lisans programlarınakaydolan öğrenciler arasında önceden bir yükseköğretim kurumundan mezun olmuşöğrencilerin oranı giderek artmaktadır. Literatürde bu öğrencilere ilişkinaraştırmalarsa yok denecek kadar azdır. Bu araştırma bu öğrencilerin; önceliklekim olduklarını, demografik, ekonomik ve toplumsal niteliklerini betimlemeyi,ardından önceki eğitimlerini, kariyerlerini neden geride bıraktıklarını ve yenidisiplinlerini hangi amaçlarla tercih ettiklerini ortaya koymayı amaçlamıştır.Niteliksel ve betimsel bir yöntem benimsenen bu araştırmada; ikinci defaüniversite okuma kararının öğrencinin sahip olduğu ekonomik ve toplumsalsermaye ile ilişkili olduğu ortaya konmuş ve önceki yükseköğretimdisiplinlerine dair tercihlerini "yanlış" olarak değerlendirenöğrencilerin bu tercihlerinde çoğunlukla eğitime dair hâkim toplumsal bakışaçısını suçladıkları anlaşılmıştır. Bu öğrencilerin yeni yükseköğretimdisiplinlerine dair tercihleriyse; idealindeki mesleğin eğitimini almak,kendini geliştirmek ve iş olanakları yüksek bir alana geçmek olarak ortayaçıkmıştır.

N2  - Among all the students enroll the undergraduateprograms of Turkey, the number of students that already have higher educationdegrees in advance is growing gradually. However, in the literature, there isalmost no research about these students. This study aims; to describe who thesestudents are, their demographic, economic, and social qualities, and to revealwhy they left their former educations and careers behind, and what theirmotivations are to prefer their current departments. Adopting qualitative anddescriptive methods, this study revealed that the decision of enrollinguniversity for the second time associated with the economic or social capitalof the student and found out that the students principally blame the dominantperception of the society about education, for their "wrong"preference of their former departments. Further,the motivations of the students for the preferences of the current departmentsemerged as; to study for the dream occupation, to improve oneself, and to findbetter job opportunities.
