Legends about names of some places or historical figures exist. In some legends, characters can change while narration diagram and characteristics stay the same. Some narrations can be attributed to various historical figures, narrations can show a disarray in historical level and live anachronism and adaptation. The same legend can be narrated in different ways in a small region. In this study, we examined the legends about the name Gaziemir district of İzmir. In our examination, we used legend texts which we obtained from our compilation in 2013. First of all, we gave place to definition of legend. Then we mentioned anachronism and adaptation factors and inform about Gazi Umur Bey who was entreated in the legend. Then we gave place to and analyzed previously published texts of the legend that we complied.
