AB  - İş Sağlığı ve Güvenliği (İSG) hem kamu sektörünühem de devlet sektörünü yakından ilgilendiren güncel konulardan biridir. Buçalışmanın amaçları ilk olarak iş kazalarının azaltılmasında; kazaların en yaygınnedeni olarak kabul edilen insan faktörünün etkin bir şekilde yönetilmesi ve yönlendirilmesi,bunun yanısıra güvenlik kültürünün güçlendirilmesi konusunda yöneticilerinoynadıkları liderlik rolünün öneminin ortaya konmasıdır. İkinci olarak literatürtaraması yapılarak güvenlik liderini başarıya ulaştıracak liderlik tarzlarınınbelirlenmesi ve böylece iyi bir güvenlik liderinin taşıması gerekenözelliklerin ortaya konması amaçlanmaktadır. Bu bağlamda öncelikle güvenlikliderliği kavramı üzerinde durularak, iş sağlığı ve güvenliği ile ilgili çalışmalarasağlayabileceği katkılar ortaya konmaya çalışılacaktır. Bu çalışma ile mikrodüzeyde işletmelerin, makro düzeyde ise ülke ekonomisinin önemli sorunlarındanbiri olan iş kazalarının önlenmesi açısından ihtiyaç duyulan güvenlikliderliğinin geliştirilmesi için faydalı liderlik tarzlarının ortaya konmasınıhedeflemektedir. Böylece, İSG ile ilgili yapılan çalışmalara insan kaynaklarıile yönetim-organizasyon disiplinleri tarafından da değerli katkılarsağlanabileceğine, aynı zamanda liderlik literatüründe de güncel bir tartıştırmakonusu olarak güvenlik liderliğine dikkat çekilmiş olacaktır.

N2  - Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) is one ofthe current topics of high concern for both private sector and public sectororganizations. The two main aims of this study are first, to explain the roleof the managers as safety leaders in strenghtening the organization’s safetyculture and effectively managing the human factor, which is considered to bethe most common factor in workplace accidents. The second aim is to reviseliterature and to determine the leadership styles defined to be best fitting asafety leader in order to set basic qualities of a good safety leader. In thiscontext, first, the concept of safety leadership and its contribution to OHS willbe explained. Consequently, it will be possible to determine the bestleadership styles that a safety leader should adopt, in order to decreaseworkplace accident rates which is a problem for individual businesses at microlevel and a problem for the state economy at macro level. As a result, thepossible and valuable contribution of organizational studies and humanresources disciplines to OHS efforts will be established. Moreover, safetyleaderhip will be introduced to the leadership literature in Turkey as a newtopic for innovative and original studies.
