Here, it was aimed to screenTurkestanian people living in Turkey for anemia and thyroid pathologies andpoint out the impact of ethnicity on disease nature.Randomlychosen 60 patients with Turkestan origin living in Turkey and 33 Turkishpatients as control group were included in the study. Age, gender, nationalorigin and co-morbidities were recorded. Anemia and thyroid disease parameters weretested. Results were analyzed using SPSS.Therewas no statistically significant difference for age, gender or co-morbiddiseases between the groups. Anemia rate was statistically significantly higher andfT4 level and pathological USG rate were lower in Turkestan group whencompared to control group. There was no statistically significant differencebetween groups for eu/hypo/hyperthyroid states. Ethnicity is an important variable and determinant of diseasesincluding anemia and thyroid pathologies.
