N2  - The tradition of Quranic tafsir (exegesis) in the Ottoman era has its own special  features. One of them is the tradition of the exegesis of a single verse (ayah). Most  of these works have survived as manuscript copies and contain the exegeses of one  or several verses. Also, we encounter the exegesis of verses in newspapers and  magazine articles. The exegesis of verses performed in front of the Ottoman Sultan  as a part of Huzur Dersleri also draws our attention. This study deals with the  general characteristics of exegesis of verses.
