AB  - It is with the deepest sorrow that we must place on record the death of Prof.Dr. Doğan Çoker on January 8, 2003. With his passing we have lost a dearly lovedteacher, colleague and friend. Doğan Çoker was born in Üsküdar in 1951 and began his close association with Hacettepe University as an undergraduate in the newly established MathematicsDepartment in 1968. He quickly gained the respect and admiration of all aroundhim and went on to build a distinguished academic career, firstly in the Mathe-matics Department of Hacettepe University, later in the Department of SecondaryMathematics Education of that university and finally, in 1997, in the Departmentof Mathematics of the Mediterranean University in Antalya.His free and democratic nature, his enquiring mind, his deep love of Mathe-matics, of words and of the Turkish Language, will continue to be an example tous all. We are eternally grateful to him for his contributions to Mathematics, andfor presenting to his students such eternal virtues as "intelligence, knowledge andlove."
