While no specific sampling group selected for the study, the face-to-face interview method was conducted with the 437 women who agreed to participate in the study in the data collection period. The SPSS 15.0 statistical package software was used for the analysis of the collected data. Percentage and mean analyses were conducted and the chi-square test was conducted to evaluate the relationship among variables; p<0.05 was considered significant.results: The mean age of the participating women was 32.9±7.7 years. According to the statements of the subjects, 50.8% covered the baby’s face with yellow piece of cloth to protect them from hepatitis infection, 11.9% made a thin cut on the baby’s toe to make it bleed when they got infected with hepatitis. 52.6% put a “blue bead” or “evil eye” on the baby to protect their babies from an evil eye, 35.7% buried the umbilical cord piece in the garden of places such as a school, mosque or hospital, 32.5% did not wash the baby until the cord dropped off, 27.5% fed their baby with sugared water, 10.5% did not feed the baby the first milk (colostrum), 25.2% applied sodium bicarbonate when an aphthous}, number={3}, publisher={T.C.
