For this aim, the blood samples were collected from totally 542 cattle which were gone to pasture and selected randomly in different periods between 2008-2010 in 13 provinces of Black Sea Region in Turkey. While the blood smears were being prepared from the blood samples, the samples were extracted and the DNA was investigated for Babesia and Theileria species by RLB at the same time. PCR of 10 samples was performed with specific primers of msa-2c gene region. 798 bp bands obtained with PCR were extracted from the gel and sent for the sequencing. According to the sequence results, nucleotide sequences of 10 samples were exhibited and compared the similarity with other similar isolates in the world. Babesia bovis isolates were deposited to GenBank and the accession numbers were taken. In the microscopic examination of the blood samples collected from the cattle, the prevalence of babesiosis and theileriosis was determined as 1.7% and 9.2%, respectively. According to RLB results, the prevalence of B. bovis, B. bigemina, T. annulata and T. buffeli/orientalis was detected as 1.8%, 2.2%, 2% and 20.6%, respectively. It was also established that the similarity of B. bovis isolates deposited to GenBank varied between 94-99% in each other and between 89-99% in the other similar isolates in the world. As a result, it was firstly characterized of msa2c gene region of B. bovis with molecular methods in Turkey. It is thought that the results of this study will provide a basis for the vaccination studies with the characteristic Turkey isolates CR - Uilenberg G. Babesia -A historical overview.
