TY - JOUR T1 - The Role of Polyvinylpyrrolidone as a Pore Former on Microstructure and Performance of Polysulfone Membranes TT - Polisülfon Membranlarının Mikroyapı ve Performansı Üzerine Bir Gözenek Oluşturucu Olarak Polivinilpirolidonun Rolü AU - Eren, Bilge AU - Güney, Murat PY - 2019 DA - September Y2 - 2019 DO - 10.35193/bseufbd.589808 JF - Bilecik Şeyh Edebali Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Dergisi PB - Bilecik Seyh Edebali University WT - DergiPark SN - 2458-7575 SP - 168 EP - 176 VL - 6 LA - en AB - In this study, the effect ofpolyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) as a pore former on the performance of polysulfone(PSF) membrane was studied. XRD spectra revealed that acrystalline-to-amorphous phase transition occurred with the increasing PVPamount. SEM results indicated the shape and size of macrovoids in the membraneswere altered with the increasing PVP amount in the polymer solution. The Tgvalues for the pure PSF and of 5 wt% PVP added PSF membrane were measured as189 and 182 °C, respectively. The performances of the membranes were determinedby using the pure water flux (PWF) measurements. The PWF of the membranesincreased from 36.76 to 86.80 L m-2 h-1 with the increaseof PVP amount (0 to 10 wt %) in PSF polymer solution. The relationship betweenPWF and PVP content was explained with the increased thermodynamic instabilityand kinetic hindrance. CR - [1] Summers, G. J., Ndawuni, M. P., & Summers, C. A. (2003).
