TY - JOUR T1 - Lot Streaming Techniques AU - Botsalı, Ahmet Reha PY - 2019 DA - December JF - International Journal of Engineering Science and Application JO - IJESA PB - Nisantasi University WT - DergiPark SN - 2548-1185 SP - 172 EP - 175 VL - 3 IS - 4 LA - en AB - In batch manufacturing, the items are groupedinto batches. These batches are treated as individual jobs and they are notsplitted. However, if batch sizes are large, it may be beneficial to splitthese batchesinto smaller transfer lots which is known as lot streaming. Lotstreaming provides acceleration of the production by processing the items of theoriginal batch in an overlapping fashion. In this paper, the lot streamingproblem is defined, the problem characteristics and the notation are explained. Then the solution procedures in the literature for lot streaming problems arediscussed respectively for 2-machine,3-machine and, m-machine cases. For alltypes of 2 and 3-machine problems, thereexist polynomial time algorithms. For certain m-machine problems, there alsoexist polynomial time algorithms.
