There was anunspoken agreement of the necessity to broaden the term. Newsituations arose, old ones declined in importance.Religious concepts have always been an essential trigger forsocietal development, but were only rarely seen under the 'umbrellaof security'. Religious movements have been used for politicalpurpose in a manifold sense. They were a means to push thedevelopment of society and they have also been obstacles toprogress. We know that religion is an essential part in societaldevelopment (e.g. in the pre-phase of transformation in CentralEurope or in ali countries with Islamic predominance).
