AB  - The area of ​​Tessalais home to very diverse vegetationbetween forest and steppe species more than 1000 meters high, there arearomatic plants thus participating in the economy of the region this wealth isnot exploited where the interest of our study in the framework of thevalorization of the natural resources by an inventory of the flora and anethnobotanical investigation using a standardized survey dedicated to thetradipraticiens. Subsequently, this work was complemented by the identificationof field samples at the Botanical Laboratory of the faculty of medicine usingflora and herbaria available to translate this traditional folk knowledge intoscientific knowledge. Thus, the scientific knowledge of the medicinal flora ofthe region studied allowed us to gather the maximum of information concerningthe therapeutic uses practiced by the local population. As a result of thefloristic inventory a total of 80 medicinal plants, distributed in 50 genera,were collected and identified. Plant family with the highest medicinal plantsin the study area used for various diseases treatment was Lamiaceae. The surveyrevealed more than 40 species used for several pathologies ranging from simpledermatological disease to hypertension and diabetes while Pistacia,Marrubium,andMyrtus were the most frequently utilized plant, However, to save medicinalplants from further loss, involving local communities in the cultivation of themost utilized medicinal plants is recommended.
