During this period, children experience various mathematical developments. About these rapid mathematical developments, teachers’ perceptions about mathematics and their classroom practices are effective. Children spend most of their time with their parents. Therefore, their perceptions about mathematics are very effective in children’s mathematics learning. Main aims of the study are to determine perceptions of parents mother or father , who have children enrolled to preschools, about mathematics and to specify their expectations about mathematics education during preschool education. This study is a case study which is a type of qualitative research methods. In selection of participants, convenience sampling method which was one of the purposeful sampling methods was used and 284 participants were involved to the study. Semi structured interview form was used for data gathering. It was developed by the researchers. Results of the study indicated that parents perceived mathematics as numbers and operations. Besides, participants stated that their previous and current mathematical experiences affected their children and they mentioned that they did mathematical practices at home. These practices were generally involved repetition of school learnings. Many of the participants also frequently stated that mathematics was significant for both their children’s daily lives and future lives.}, number={1}, publisher={Kirsehir Ahi Evran University}
