This is due to both the complication of the social structure itself and the increase in knowledge in this area, the improvement of its methodology and methodological searches. The aim of the research proposed by the authors is to generalize the practical experience of teaching social disciplines. The practical significance of the proposed study is due to the effectiveness of the results of teaching, modernized directly in the course of the reform of the higher education system in Russia. As research materials, the authors used the results of their own developments, created in the course of repeated approbation of innovative teaching methods and forms of education. We consider the basic principles of studying the social sciences in modern higher education to be continuity, succession, intergrability and openness of education, as well as its creative, research nature. In the practice of students' educational activities, these principles are embodied in active forms of learning and the use of modern online technologies, which today has acquired particular relevance.
