Abstract

This paper presents images of moving targets are obtained by moving perception platform using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imaging system, which run with the principle of coherent signal processing. In image processing stage image reconstruction methods are used by means of the classical Fourier methods of Polar Format Reconstruction. For accurate SAR imaging of the moving targets, position and velocity of the object according to the radar platform must be known exactly. In this paper, it is assumed that the relative motion between the platform carrying radar antenna and the target is known. In order to remove effects of smearing and shifting caused by phase shifting emerged because of target's motion on reconstructed image, imaging algorithm are modified by way of doing phase compensation for received signal by SAR system. It is observed that resolutions of moving target images obtained by the modified Polar Format Reconstruction algorithm converge to resolutions of stationary target images.
