MEET DR. OLUSEYI AKINTUNDE DADA
I am Dr. Oluseyi Akintunde DADA. I was born on February 23, 1976, in Lagos, Nigeria. I have a bachelor of education (B.Ed) from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria, M.Ed and PhD both from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, all in Special Education. I also have my second PhD in Educational Measurement and Evaluation from the University of Calabar, Nigeria as a mark of sound academic commitment. I am currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Special Education, University of Calabar, Nigeria but I have served as a lecturer previously in the University of Ibadan and Federal College of Education (Special) Oyo in Nigeria.
Within my twelve years of cognate academic experience, I have taught many courses in special needs education, child psychology, assessment of persons with disabilities and disorders, programme measurement and evaluation, teaching strategies and management of children with gift and talents, as well as counselling the parents of children with disabilities. My teaching cut across both courses for postgraduate and undergraduate students in the faculty of education. I have attended over thirty (30) professional conferences and workshops locally and internationally My presentations at various conferences have provided me with a wide experience in action research, qualitative and quantitative studies which have contributed to my academic prowess. I have over 50 publications in local and international scholarly journals.
I have supervised twenty (20) undergraduate projects, ten (10) master theses and two PhD dissertations, apart from those I am currently supervising. I have participated in policy formulation, curriculum review and programme evaluation. I have served in various capacities within and outside my University including being the current chairman of the departmental postgraduate board, acting head of the department, graduate students’ thesis examiner, student adviser, editor of the faculty journal, consultant to some homes and schools where persons with special needs are catered for.
I have demonstrated leadership instinct in many capacities including being the class captains in all my classes as a student, the principal of a school, and chairman of programme accreditation committees in my department. I belong to reputable professional, non-profit and non-governmental organizations including the National Association for Exceptional Child (NAEC), Nigeria Association for Special Education Teachers (NASET), Nigeria Council of Educational Psychologists (NCEP), National Association of Psycho-Social Education Researchers (NAPER), Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Association of Childhood Educators, Nigeria (ACEN) and Rotary International.
I am very skilful in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and SPSS package for data analysis. I enjoyed teaching, researching, writing and travelling. I am a good team player and always open to new knowledge. I am happily married with three children.
